THE ORKESTRA DEL SOL/GADJO GIG IS BACK ON - IN NEARBY WINKLEIGH VILLAGE HALL

Hold on to your hats - tomorrow's gig is BACK ON! Doors are at 6.30pm.

The gig is back on, but relocated to Winkleigh village hall. You're still very welcome to camp at the farm from 5pm - Winkleigh is just 4 miles away. The village hall is at EX19 8HU. There's a map to the farm at EX20 2AL on the directions page.

We're providing a minibus shuttle to and from the event, running from 5.30pm - parking in Winkleigh is extremely limited, so help us help you to make this happen smoothly. If you must park nearby, we suggest the road to Monkokehampton out of Winkleigh, if you're super-tidy, but please don't unless there's a good reason

IMPORTANT: Everyone who paid by card will receive a full refund. It's all in process with the ticket agency and you should have the money in your account within 3-5 days. We can't speed that up, sorry - that's how Brown Paper Tickets work. If you paid by PayPal and you don't want to come, we'll refund you as soon after the gig as we can. It's all very hectic right now.

Conrad's Kitchen will be providing amazing food as planned, there will be a bar and the village hall has all the facilities you'd expect (although note parking is very limited as stated above).

So, it's cash only on the door unless you've paid by PayPal - £20.

Sorry for all the confusion. It is, as they say, a rapidly evolving situation...

It's going to be a stonking night and we look forward to seeing you there.

Ben

Friday 20th October

You'll already know that it's been a very windy week. We put the mighty Lowton timber-frame marquee up at the end of last week as part of the preparations for the gig and it withstood Ophelia on Monday and then strong winds last night. We've been watching the canvas and the frame every day, making sure it's safe. Yesterday, we spoke to an advisor at the Met Office and with Storm Brian due to hit overnight tonight and then batter us all day tomorrow, we've weighed all the factors as to whether to proceed or not with the gig.

This morning, we've taken the sad decision that we have to cancel the event. We've tried to find a venue to relocate to, but it's not been possible. A huge amount of work has already gone into preparing for the gig and we're gutted to have had to make this call, but when it comes down to it, it's about safety and you can't argue with nature. To all of you who were looking forward to seeing Orkestra del Sol and Gadjo here at Lowton Farm, our apologies - we're as disappointed as you are. If you've been to the farm before you'll know how much we put into making these gigs something memorable.

All the events at Lowton Farm are fundraising events for Refugee Community Kitchen and related projects. As you can imagine, we stand to make a significant loss from this cancellation.

In the meantime, here's to staying safe and well and a thought to all those who don't have the shelter or warmth to look after themselves in weather such as this.

In solidarity and canvas

Ben

ps today and tomorrow I'll be flat-out taking the marquee down and getting everything stored and then recovering. Please don't phone me yet. I'll be available from Sunday afternoon if you really need to speak to me.
